About Me

Tessa

I graduated with a Masters in Art Therapy from the University of Hertfordshire in 2005. Since then I have gained a variety of experience working with a variety of clients.

I returned to South Africa in 2008 and registered with the Health Professions Council (HPCSA) in 2011.

I currently run a private practice with children and adults in Observatory, Cape Town as well as working with several NGOs on a consulting basis.

I am also a practicing artist, having completed a B.A. Fine Arts from U.C.T in 2001. I specialise in ceramics.

In 2010 I started training in Time To Think. I became an accredited Thinking Environment Facilitator in January 2012 and a Coach in January 2013.

Art Therapy & Medical Aid

I run a cash practice. Some medical aids will refund you, for full or part of the session payment. This works in the same way as a normal visit to a doctor. If you have a comprehensive, inclusive medical aid scheme, Art Therapy usually falls under the Allied Healthcare category, and can be claimed.  If you have a medical savings account, the therapy can often be claimed against this.  For the details of your specific medical aid benefits, you should contact your provider before the sessions begin.

I am registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), and have a practice number.
