I graduated with a Masters in Art Therapy from the University of Hertfordshire in 2005. Since then I have gained a great deal of experience working with a variety of clients. I returned to South Africa in 2008 and registered with the Health Professions Council (HPCSA) in 2011.
My private practice with children and adults runs from my home in Pinelands, Cape Town (but has moved to Zoom during the 2020 pandemic). I also work with several NGOs on a consulting basis.
I am also a practicing artist, having completed a B.A. Fine Arts from U.C.T in 2001. I specialise in ceramics.
I became an accredited Time To Think Thinking Environment Facilitator in January 2012 and a Coach in January 2013. In 2019 I completed the Management Coaching Certificate through the University of Stellenbosch Business School.
SANATA is the national professional association that represents arts therapies. I am the Art Therapy representative on the Exco.
Art Therapy & Medical Aid
I run a cash practice. Some medical aids will refund you, for full or part of the session payment. This works in the same way as a normal visit to a doctor. If you have a comprehensive, inclusive medical aid scheme, Art Therapy usually falls under the Allied Healthcare category, and can be claimed. If you have a medical savings account, the therapy can often be claimed against this. For the details of your specific medical aid benefits, you should contact your provider before the sessions begin.
I am registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), and have a practice number.
